Best Friends is a print of the original mixed media collage of two sheep (ram & ewe). The materials I used to create this collage were cattlemarkers, watercolor, brass washers, cotoneaster leaves, and sharp-tail grouse feathers. The reference photos I took of these sheep were at a farm near Sheridan, Montana.
I developed my own style of collage by using painted paper or recycled paintings. I cut or tear the painted paper into pieces and then assemble them into layers, often adding a variety of materials to adorn each image. Each brilliantly-colored and whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles and triumphs. I earned my bachelor of fine arts degree from Montana State University and currently resides in Bozeman, Montana. You can find more of my art at shirleyrobinett.com.
