Wings of Fire is a print of an original mixed media collage of two walking sandhill cranes. The original was collaged on a 22"x30" 300# watercolor paper. The materials I used to create the collage were cattlemarkers, watercolor, coffee, cotoneaster leaves, wild oats & grasses, blue mustard, and sharp-tail grouse, duck, parakeet & pheasant feathers. I took the reference photo of the sandhill cranes near Sheridan, Montana.
I developed my own style of collage by using painted paper or recycled paintings. I cut or tear the painted paper into pieces and then assemble them into layers, often adding a variety of materials to adorn each image. Each brilliantly-colored and whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles and triumphs. I earned my bachelor of fine arts degree from Montana State University and currently resides in Bozeman, Montana. You can find more of my art at shirleyrobinett.com.
