“Independence” is a print of a mixed media collage using cattlemarkers, watercolors, Montana sharp-tail grouse & plume feathers and a copy of the July 4, 1776 Declaration of Independence, with painted image of the 1776 flag.
I developed my own style of collage by using painted paper or recycled paintings. I cut or tear the painted paper into pieces and then assemble them into layers, often adding a variety of materials to adorn each image. Each brilliantly-colored and whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles and triumphs. I earned my bachelor of fine arts degree from Montana State University and currently resides in Bozeman, Montana. You can find more of my art at shirleyrobinett.com.
