“The Night Song” is a print of a mixed media collage of a tepee at night under the moon. The original was collaged on 300# watercolor paper. The materials I used to create the original were cattlemarkers, watercolors, acrylics, wheat awns, and Montana sharp-tail grouse, pheasant & parakeet feathers collaged on 300# Arches watercolor paper. Inspired by Psalm 42:8 "The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me – a prayer to the God of my life."
I developed my own style of collage by using painted paper or recycled paintings. I cut or tear the painted paper into pieces and then assemble them into layers, often adding a variety of materials to adorn each image. Each brilliantly-colored and whimsical image tells its own story and is often a reflection of my own personal struggles and triumphs. I earned my bachelor of fine arts degree from Montana State University and currently resides in Bozeman, Montana. You can find more of my art at shirleyrobinett.com.
